Things to do when planning a trip to Kedarnath

Kedarnath is a very popular tourist spot and also an actively visited Hindu pilgrimage. Most of the people can travel to Kedarnath during the summer months because due to heavy snowfall and bad weather conditions the roads leading to the temple get shut down during the winter months.
So, if you are planning for a trip to Kedarnath, there are a few things that you will have to keep in mind. It is not as simple as planning a trip to any other tourist destination because you will have to take a lot of things into consideration. Here are some things that you will need to do when you plan a trip to this holy place:

1.      The first and the most important thing to remember is that climbing up to Kedarnath is no easy feat and hence you have to consider this first when you are travelling with a child or with elderly people. There are a number of options that you can use of which the helicopter for kedarnath is the most comfortable one but will certainly weigh heavily on your pocket. This will help you to save time, and you can travel with ease and also enjoy a spectacular view of the hills. So, if you decide that you want to avail these services, then make sure that you save up from well beforehand.

2.         The next thing that you will need to do is make reservations at Kedarnath well beforehand. This is because, as mentioned before, people flock to this place only during the summer months and hence it remains very crowded during the visiting times of the year. Book early or you might not get a place to stay since the place is rather small and being so high up, resources and amenities are rather scanty.

3.        Weigh out the other options of reaching Kedarnath other than the helicopter ride. You can hire a horse and go to the top of horseback and then come back in the same. There are other modes of local travel as well like Dandi and pittu, all of which you will have to book once you begin your climb from Gaurikund to Kedarnath. If you are an experienced trekker then you can always go for the option of walking your way to the top, but be prepared for it is a long walk and pretty steep a climb.

4.           If you have breathing troubles then always take the advice of your doctor and carry the necessary medicines with yourself. A lot of people do have breathing troubles when they reach Kedarnath and hence you need to be medically prepared for something like this.

5.        And last but not the least make sure that you have proper walking shoes and enough warmers to keep you warm, because the weather is biting cold at the top even during the harshest of summer days. Thus you must make sure that you have enough woollens with you.
Keep these pointers in mind and prepare yourself from before and you will be all set to visit Kedarnath!
